Assistant/Associate Professor in Human Nutrition and Dietetics
The Department of Nutrition and Food Science at the University of Maryland, College Park invites applications for a 12-month, tenure-track position of Assistant/Associate Professor of Human Nutrition and Dietetics.
Position Description: The successful candidate will be expected to develop and maintain an independent, innovative and competitively funded nutrition research program with a focus on nutrition in the life cycle and/or in the prevention/management of nutrition-related chronic conditions. We seek outstanding scientists engaged in emerging areas, which may include but is not limited to nutrition assessment, nutrition informatics, sports nutrition, nutrigenomics or microbiome. The successful candidate must be able to effectively teach and mentor both graduate and undergraduate dietetics students, assist with the development and management of a new Master’s degree in Dietetics and possess excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
The university provides excellent opportunities for collaboration within the department, the College of Agriculture and Natural Resources, the School of Public Health, the University of Maryland Extension and with the Center for Sports Medicine, Health and Human Performance, currently under construction. The location of the university also provides opportunities for collaboration with scientists at nearby institutions such as the National Institutes of Health, the US Department of Agriculture Beltsville Human Nutrition Research Center, the University of Maryland School of Medicine, and the Children’s National Medical Center.
Qualifications: Candidates must have an earned doctorate in nutrition or closely related field. Be credentialed as an RDN/RD and be outstanding research scientists for their current rank. Applicants for Associate Professor Position are required to have an established record of accomplishment of external funding and a strong record of publications in recognized journals. Excellent communication and strong interpersonal skills.
