A postdoctoral training position is available in the laboratory of Xin Liu, in the Cecil H. and Ida Green Center for Reproductive Biology Sciences at UT Southwestern Medical Center to study chromatin structure and epigenetics. Research in the Liu lab is focused on structure and function of large macromolecular complexes involved in formation of heritable high-order chromatin structure. These complexes impact fundamental biological processes through epigenetic mechanisms and are frequently dysregulated in human disease, like cancers and developmental disorders. To achieve the research goal, the Liu lab uses structural biology tools, including biochemical reconstitution (e.g. protein-protein, protein-nucleosome, or protein-non-coding RNA complexes), X-ray crystallography and cryo-EM, to reveal three-dimensional structures of chromatin complexes. In addition, the Liu lab performs structure-based functional studies in cancer and stem cells by employing genome editing tools and genomics by next-generation sequencing. Examples of recent publications from the lab include: Science 350:aac4383 (2015) (PMID: 26472914), eLife 6:e31558 (2017) (PMID: 29185984), Molecular Cell 69:840-852 (2018) (PMID: 29499137), PNAS 117:16992-17002 (2020) (PMID: 32631994), Molecular Cell 77:1265-1278 (2020) (PMID: 31959557). Applicants with demonstrated expertise in structural biology, protein and nucleic acid biochemistry, chromatin biology, or genomics are encouraged to apply. Applicants must hold a Ph.D. and/or M.D. degree with first author publications. Interested individuals should send a CV and a list of 2-3 references to: firstname.lastname@example.org
