YOUR ROLE
  • Conducts all R&D laboratory work in a safe manner including understanding the SDSs, the use of proper Personal Protective Equipment (PPE), adherence to site safety practices, use of laboratory equipment, 5S, etc. Ensures that products and processes comply with all federal and state regulatory agencies.
  • Provides support for various projects assigned by Supervisor. Conduct minor formulation modification under guidance of Supervisor
  • Tracks project time in the ADP system. Assists in maintaining project time-lines.
  • Handles and processes raw materials in a safe and correct manner. Communicate with supervisor regarding inventory levels.
  • Understand chemical ingrediencies and formulating under instructions
  • Follows process procedures and records experimental details, collecting and organizing data in a coherent format. Communicates basic observations regarding data and/or experimental outcome.
  • Performs routine tests and takes on equipment ownership to operate application equipment safely and efficiently.
  • Reporting of laboratory results and methods according to Henkel lab book policies; results, reports and observations will be communicated to internal/external customers in a timely manner.
  • Employs basic problem-solving skills to overcome project bottlenecks and maintain project deliverable dates.
  • Programs robots, comfortable with a variety of curing and dispensing equipment.
  • Becomes familiar with products associated with assigned technology team/market/region.
  • Understanding of mathematical and statistical techniques relevant to adhesive product testing.
  • May train other Technicians regarding equipment operation and/or test procedures.
YOUR SKILLS

Minimum Qualifications:
  • Minimum of an Associate's degree in Chemistry, Chemical Engineering or Materials Science or a science field.
  • 1-5 years experience in a chemical laboratory environment. Prior experience in adhesive and sealant product development is highly preferred
  • Ability to gather, understand, and interpret chemical, physical and mechanical data.
  • Ability to comprehend and follow oral and written instructions and procedures.
  • Ability to operate laboratory equipment safely.
  • Demonstrated ability to collaborate with other team members in product development programs.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills. Candidate must be able to work as a team member and independently on multi-task assignments.
  • Knowledgeable in Power Point, Word, Lotus Notes, Excel and Statistical Analysis Software is preferred.
Physical Requirements:
  • Availability to work different shifts if needed.
  • Ability to work in a chemical lab environment and with lab equipment and computers. Able to carry out laboratory activities.
  • Frequently sit, view a computer screen, and type on a keyboard for extended periods of times.
  • Able to wear face respirator
  • Occasionally may be required to reach, squat, bend and lift up to 25 lbs.
