The University of Michigan Biosciences Initiative and collaborating units recently awarded a combined intramural grant of $15M to the BioInnovations in Brain Cancer (BIBC) Program. This multi-disciplinary group is rooted in collaborations between brain cancer experts, clinicians, and technologists to drive innovation and translation that will deliver technological breakthroughs that impact brain cancer patients’ lives. The BIBC is currently soliciting applications for tenure track faculty positions at any level.
Candidates must have the following qualifications:
- A PhD, MD, or equivalent
- Evidence of superlative scientific accomplishment and scholarly promise
- Evidence of (or potential for) strong independent funding
- Demonstrate a strong record of (or potential for) leadership in research and professional activities
- Strong commitment to the educational objectives of the graduate, professional, and undergraduate degree programs at the University and be able to articulate how they will support the University’s mission to education and inspire a diverse group of future scientists to be leaders and improve health for all.
We welcome applications from outstanding scientists with expertise in any areas pertaining to translational or basic brain cancer biology research and/or development of cutting-edge technological approaches for treatment. We anticipate placing faculty within the Colleges of Pharmacy, Engineering, and Medicine, and primary school and departmental affiliation(s) will be determined by each applicant’s qualifications, preferences, and relevance of their research program to departmental initiatives and themes. Applicants should demonstrate a history or desire to collaborate with other faculty and clinicians focused on brain cancer. Special interest includes candidates with expertise in (1) drug/molecular transport/imaging in the brain tissue, (2) translation-focused glioma, epigenetics and/or scRNA-seq expertise, or (3) nonviral nucleic acid delivery. The expertise of the chosen candidates will be complementary to existing expertise within the BIBC and at Michigan broadly.
