Faculty Positions in Faculty of Material Science and Engineering at SIAT
Shenzhen Institute of Advanced Technology, Chinese Academy of Sciences (SIAT) invites applications for faculty and chair positions available from its newly established Faculty of Materials Science and Engineering (MSE). SIAT has several research institutions that focus on advanced technologies in Biomedical Engineering, Pharmaceutical Sciences, Life and Health Sciences, as well as Computer Science and Control Engineering.
MSE is a newly established faculty with three departments: Advanced Materials for Information Technology, Smart Energy Materials, and Biomedical materials.
Goals, Vision, and Mission
Faculty of Materials Science and Engineering addresses the critical needs in advanced materials that underpin major national interests in both the frontiers of science and strategic development. Based on the strong foundation of Shenzhen Institute of Advanced Technology, Chinese Academy of Sciences, the new faculty will educate next generation high-quality researchers, engineers and entrepreneurs in material science and engineering, provide service to industry, nation and world, and promote ground-breaking scientific and technological advances to address the multidisciplinary global challenges, such as new generation electronics for information technology, renewable energy conversion and storage, global warming, carbon neutrality, and human health. Our vision is to establish a new world-leading education and research centre in material science and engineering discipline which will have international impacts within the next 10 years.
The following positions are available: Chair Professor (tenure), Distinguished Professor (tenure), full professor (tenure), Associate Professor (tenure or tenure-track)
Schedule: 35 hours per week, Full time, Teaching and Research
Location： Shenzhen, P.R.China
Department of Electronic Information Materials: The department focuses on research and development of advanced materials for new-generation electronics, optoelectronics, functional electronic packaging and device integration. The department will provide an important material platform to support the critical needs of next generation talents, advanced technologies and the development of semiconductor industry in China.
Department of Smart Energy Materials: The department will focus on developing breakthrough science and technology in advanced materials to tackle the global challenge in carbon neutrality, including renewable energy conversion, energy storage, green hydrogen, smart grid, and carbon dioxide conversion. The department is committed to the realization of zero-carbon emission to achieve the sustainable development of our society.
Department of Biomedical Materials: The department takes biomedical materials and functional devices for healthcare as its main research directions, and it is committed to playing a key role in addressing the challenges of human health.
In addition to conducting high-quality scientific research, successful candidates are required to do teaching of core courses in the broad field of material science and engineering for both undergraduate and postgraduate programs.
The candidates are also required to provide active internal service to the Department, the Faculty and the University, and external service to the professions/disciplines.
Ideal candidates must hold a PhD degree and have strong research and teaching track records, evidenced by high-quality research publications, competitive funding, teaching experience and evaluation scores, and research supervision records. Successful candidates are expected to establish independent research programs and research teams in line with the aforementioned research directions; Interdisciplinary research is encouraged.
