Site Name: Home Worker - GBR, USA - Pennsylvania - Philadelphia Posted Date: Jun 8 2021 The primary purpose of this role is to drive excellence in the application of research methods to real-world data (RWD) within the Real-World Analytics (RWA) team, in alignment with our aspirations for upper quartile performance as a partner of choice in value evidence generation. This is accomplished through technical expertise, external credibility, and matrix leadership, with potential line management; clearly articulated deliverables and governance; and mentoring of RWA scientists reporting into others. This position provides strategic and scientific leadership on behalf of the RWA organization, leads and/or provides advice to initiatives to optimize and upgrade capabilities for the use of RWD within and outside VEO (e.g., business development, early research, safety, Human Genetics, and other organizations that would benefit from use of RWD to drive decision-making), and implements training programs and measures their impact to support the growth and scale of RWA capabilities. This position may include line management of a small- to mid-sized team. Innovation and Organizational Development Expertise Leads the development or application of innovative methods to RWD to demonstrate GSK's role at the forefront of novel thinking in the application of research methods for RWD in the pharmaceutical industry - this may include project execution and scientific publication Drives learning and development for the RWA and Real-World Data Management and Programming (RWDMP) organizations Contributes to the establishment of appropriate governance, process, templates, and documentation requirements for RWA deliverables to ensure reproducibility, regulatory inspection readiness, and where applicable, follows GSKs SOPs and international scientific standards. Establishes and manages key performance indicators for circumscribed book of work, including process, quality, and compliance Directly informs and influences external strategic initiatives in the use of RWD within the pharmaceutical industry, involving both regulators and industry, to maximize their value to GSK; manages external engagement with key academic (e.g., LSHTM, UNC) and industry (e.g., Precision) partners Articulates and leads the development of solutions for analytic needs within RWA, including analytic tool strategy as well as integration with broader GSK-wide initiatives, such as the SPACE program Defines, communicates, and implements the RWA strategy for use of evidence synthesis within VEO, including support model, key deliverables, and resourcing Why you? Basic Qualifications: We are looking for professionals with these required skills to achieve our goals: MS in a quantitative discipline such as epidemiology, health economics, health services research, health informatics, or biostatistics 5 years of experience working with RWD for use in pharmacoepidemiology and/or health outcomes research with good practical knowledge of biostatistics applied to clinical/epidemiological research Experience and practical knowledge of statistical/analytic software (e.g., SAS, R, IHD) Fluent in written and spoken English to effectively communicate and Preferred Qualifications: If you have the following characteristics, it would be a plus: Excellent problem-solving and analytical skills and enjoy finding efficient and innovative solutions to challenging problems Self-reliant with the ability to deliver robust, timely, high-quality analytics Enthusiastic collaborator and enjoy working on a wide range of projects and requests across multiple TAs Prior team leadership experience, specifically leading a small-to-mid-sized team and managing direct reports A good understanding of drug development processes and strategies, with proven ability to apply innovative statistical thinking to meet project and/or business objectives PhD degree in a quantitative discipline such as epidemiology, health economics, health services research, health informatics, or biostatistics 7 years of experience working with RWD for use in pharmacoepidemiology and/or health outcomes research with good practical knowledge in biostatistics applied to clinical/epidemiological research, with a deep understanding of scientific methodologies employed in health outcome studies, epidemiology, regulatory, safety and/or reimbursement requirements for evidence generation and the R&D development process SOFT SKILLS Ability to lead, mentor, coach and develop a team Ability to work and interact with matrix partners across the organization Strong problem solving skills, ability to address conflicts/issues and make decisions to achieve results Excellent organizational and planning skills Excellent communication skills Why GSK?
