If so, this Senior Director & Head, Global Clinical Trial Diversity is an exciting opportunity to explore. The role: This role is accountable to develop robust demographic strategies and an action plan to enhance clinical trial diversity across the R&D (medicines and vaccines) portfolio. The Senior Director and Head, Global Clinical Trial Diversity will lead a team of (approx. 5 directly, up to 15 in a matrix), who will forge partnerships internally and externally and will track performance of KPIs. Reporting to the VP and Head, Global Clinical Sciences and Delivery, this role will drive be instrumental to help GSK deliver on its ambition to drive health equity and ensue medicines and vaccines have data representing broad patient populations. Key Responsibilities: Develop the strategy, roadmap, and action plan to implement the GSK strategy to promote clinical trial diversity across the portfolio of medicines and vaccines. Set the strategy and identify process improvements and critical partnerships/alliances to increase diverse participation. Develop consistent implementation processes to ensure consistent ways of working across medicines and vaccines portfolio and to best practice sharing within and outside clinical operations teams. Implement the trial diversity dashboard to trackprocess to support clinical teams with real-time tracking of diverse enrollment. Serve as the SME on diverse engagement and recruitment strategies and lead clinical teams in implementing these practices. Influence leaders internally and externally to change internal behaviors to strengthen our understanding of disease disparities and the effects on diverse populations. Work with key stakeholders to identify opportunities for and to develop TA-level strategies to increase diverse representation in clinical trials. Lead external engagement activities and provide input to external communication strategies, leveraging existing relationships and evaluate new opportunities to collaborate with patient advocate organizations, institutions, etc. to broaden base knowledge about clinical research in underrepresented communities and diverse investigators. Support the team with shared department goals and utilize expertise to problem-solve and remove roadblocks. People Management: Recruit, retain, lead and develop a broad team to support our ambition to improve clinical trial diversity. Lead and direct staff by providing company vision and strategy, setting clear objectives, expectations and feedback on performance, and opportunities for development. Coach and keep staff motivated during heavy workload and changing priorities. Anticipate future skills / capability needs aligned to an evolving portfolio. Establish performance measurement, track performance and identify corrective actions. Provide leadership, direction and vision. Contribute to capability building by supporting onboarding and community forums. Resource Allocation and budget: Define and analyze resources requirements as per study projections and business needs in collaboration with the Clinical Operations Leadership Team. Manage the clinical trial diversity budget. Why YOU? Basic Qualifications: • Bachelor's degree in General Science or Life/Health related Science Degree. • 10 years of leadership experience (with at least 2 years leading trial diversity efforts). • Experience in People Management and management of resources from different sources in different locations (internal, external, functional service providers). • Knowledge and understanding of clinical operations and activities associated to study delivery. • Knowledge ICH-GCP and regulations. • Outstanding knowledge of written & spoken English. • Experience using resource data analytics and project management tools to appropriately project and measure workload demands, identify capacity, and effectively adjust assigned resources. • Excellent customer orientation, ability to work beyond silos with a strong service provider mindset. • Able to manage and lead teams across geographical boundaries; leads by example and promotes collaboration, effective communication and leadership in others - ability to provide constructive feedback that is balanced, with suggestions for areas for improvement. • Effective at problem solving and conflict resolution. • Able to set and manage priorities, resources, performance targets and project initiatives in a global environment. • Experience in international settings, able to build alliances and influence across national and cultural boundaries. Preferred Qualifications: • Postgraduate degree. • Excellent communication and presentation skills including strong ability to network and negotiate at all levels in the organization. • Excellent listening and coaching skills.
