This is a laboratory-based position within the Vaccine Research and Development - Formulation Development organization. The primary responsibility is to s upport formulation and process development for early vaccine product development with a focus on mRNA-based vaccine candidates, nanoparticle or other delivery technology platforms.

  • Execute formulation studies to support the development of mRNA-based vaccine candidates and their delivery systems (e.g. Lipid nanoparticle systems). Independently calculate how to achieve the targeted formulation with basic instructions to deliver targeted formulations in a consistent, timely manner.
  • Document experiments, analyze data, provide interpretation and conclusions obtained from formulation development experiments contemporaneously in an electronic notebook.
  • Draft formulation protocols, dose formulation instructions and technical reports.
  • Perform formulation characterization using techniques such as pH, DSC, osmolality, Karl Fischer, particle sizing, and zeta potential.
  • Contribute to and participate in general laboratory maintenance activities

  • BS in Pharmaceutics, Biochemistry, Life Sciences or related discipline plus 2 or more years of related work experience, or MS in related discipline.
  • Relevant experience in pharmaceutical formulation and process development is a must.
  • Experience in formulation development for vaccines and other biologics is preferable.
  • Experience in the development of nucleic acid products and their delivery technology platforms is a plus.
  • Experience with utilizing various biophysical formulation characterization techniques such as DSC, zeta potential, and particle sizing techniques is desired.
  • Strong communication skills and ability to work across a matrix team.
  • Computer proficiency.

  • Standard laboratory conditions - sitting, standing, primarily lab based
  • Ability to perform mathematical calculations and ability to perform data analysis
