The Greehey Children’s Cancer Research Institute (GCCRI) at the University of Texas Health Science Center – San Antonio is looking for an outstanding postdoctoral fellow to work in the laboratory of Yuzuru Shiio, M.D., Ph.D.

We are seeking highly motivated candidates who have a strong background in molecular cell biology, particularly characterization of protein functions using cell culture, immunoblotting, immunoprecipitation, and immunofluorescence, and who have high-quality research publications. The ability to think and work independently is important for this position. Our laboratory uses a combination of proteomics and molecular cell biology approaches to uncover novel cytokine signaling pathways important in childhood cancers, dissect the signaling mechanisms, and explore the approaches to target these signaling pathways. For more information about our work, please see our recent publications (Cell Reports 33(5):108332, 2020 and 36(1): 109254, 2021) and the Shiio webpage at https://gccri.uthscsa.edu/lab/shiio-lab/.

Candidate qualifications: A PhD or equivalent degree in molecular cell biology and a record of high-quality research publications. Experience in mouse genetics or other specialized skills useful for our research would be a plus.

The successful candidate will receive extensive training on proteomics-based discovery (secretome proteomics to identify cytokines important in children’s cancers, protein expression profiling of subcellular fractions and organelles, and interactome proteomics to identify novel protein – protein interactions) and follow-up of proteomic findings (molecular cell biological characterization of protein functions and signaling).

Candidates should express their interest in the position by email and should include their career goals, research experience and interests, curriculum vitae with publication record, and contact information for three references.  Please send an email of interest to shiio@uthscsa.edu for consideration.

All Postdoctoral appointments are designated as security sensitive positions. The UT Health Science Center at San Antonio is an Equal Employment Opportunity/Affirmative Action Employer.
