The CARTA PhD research assistantships will be focused on data analytics research in machine learning and artificial intelligence, image and textual analysis, smart homes, and blockchain applications. The CARTA PhD research assistants will conduct original research with faculty advisors in the Department of Computer Science in conjunction with the Center, publish research papers, and present results at various meetings. Successful applicants should have a B.S. degree in computer science or a related field with a strong motivation for advancing data science in an industry/government/university collaborative research environment. Each CARTA PhD research assistant will receive an annual stipend of $33,267.  Continuation of this support is contingent upon satisfactory academic achievement and performance of duties according to University and departmental standards.

In addition to the stipend, the financial assistance package includes a full tuition scholarship to cover the cost of course work in the program. At an estimated tuition rate of $2,213 per credit, this award is currently valued at $39,834 per academic year (18 credits) and is renewable annually for up to 5 years, conditional upon satisfactory academic progress.

An application should be submitted through the University of Miami Graduate School application page to the Department of Computer Science in the College of Arts and Sciences (https://csc.as.miami.edu/programs/graduate-admission/index.html) and clearly indicated in the personal statement that the application is for a CARTA PhD research assistant position.
