Research Scientist, Translational Genomics in Breast Cancer

The Brown lab and Jeselsohn Lab of the Center for Functional Cancer Epigenetics at the Dana-Farber Cancer Institute are seeking a Research Scientist in bioinformatics to contribute to our research work understanding mechanisms of resistance to drug treatments in breast cancer and the identification of novel drug targets. The primary focus of the position will be the analysis and the development of tools to enhance the integration of data from high-throughput biological profiling technologies including bulk and single-cell sequencing, ATAC-sequencing and ChIP-sequencing, genome wide CRISPR screens, proteomics and spatial assays.

This is a unique opportunity to work on the application of genomic and epigenetic analyses to cutting-edge clinical and research efforts.

Responsibilities

Primary Responsibilities
● Drive research and analysis of data from pre-clinical models and clinical samples.

● Use a state-of- the- art bioinformatics platform that will include both collecting and housing the data, and the creation of analysis tools to allow the mining and integration of large multi-omic data.
● Develop testable hypotheses that will enable rapid understanding of new biological areas in breast cancer.

Qualifications

  • Required Skills
    ● PhD in computational biology, bioinformatics, or a related field, with a strong cancer focus.
    ● Proficiency in Python.
    ● Expertise in cancer genomics.
    ● Excellent communication and writing skills.
    ● Excellent organizational skills.
    ● Exceptional attention to detail.
    ● Outstanding personal initiative and the ability to work effectively as part of a team.
    ● Ability to meet deadlines and efficiently multitask.
    ● Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to effectively work with individuals spanning clinical, research and technical roles.

 

  • Desirable Skills
    ● Experience with genomic data science, including scripting or programming, preferably in Python.
