Postdoctoral Fellow – Research Faculty

We are seeking a highly motivated individual for a postdoctoral fellowship or research faculty appointment at the Icahn School of Medicine at Mount Sinai. Our NIH-supported research program led by Dr. Andrea Dunaif investigates the genomics of complex metabolic and reproductive traits.  The successful candidate will have an outstanding computational research background in genetics and genomics. Appointment and, if appropriate, faculty rank will be commensurate with qualifications.  Experience in the application of variant calling and annotation software to high‐density genotyping and sequencing data (including genome‐wide arrays, ExomeChip, and next generation sequencing), as well as the application and development of approaches aimed at streamlining pipelines to deal with the analyses and interpretation of data from genetically diverse populations is required. S/he will apply computational techniques in analyzing large-scale biomedical data, create data-driven models and data visualizations, write and prepare manuscripts and other materials for internal and external audiences, and assist in grant applications.

A Ph.D. in computer science/statistics/bioinformatics/statistical genetics/genetic epidemiology/

computational biology or a related discipline is required. Previous experience in biology, particularly human genetics, is preferred. Excellent programming, database and interactive web application skills (e.g. Python, R, SAS, SQL, R Shiny), proficiency in the manipulation and statistical analysis of large datasets from different sources and in different formats, and experience in conducting and organizing research projects are required.

The successful candidate will join an internationally competitive scientific environment, and is expected to work closely with colleagues in Endocrinology and in collaborating research institutes at Mount Sinai. Salary will be commensurate with experience and NYC living costs.
