Assistant Professor, Cell Biologist

Starting Date:

Minimum Qualifications:

  1. An earned doctorate (Ph.D. or equivalent) in cell biology, molecular biology, or a closely related discipline from an accredited institution (or equivalent) is required at the time of application.
  2. Expertise in any animal or cell model whose research involves cell signaling, cell physiology, molecular biology, stem cell biology, cancer biology, cellular mechanisms of disease, or molecular genetics.
  3. Evidence of effective teaching experiences at the undergraduate and/or graduate levels.
  4. Track record of scientific productivity in any area of cell biology.

Preferred Qualifications:

  1. Post-doctoral experience (Strongly desired)
  2. Evidence of working closely with and mentoring students, both in the classroom and in collaborative research.
  3. Evidence of securing external grant support.

Duties:   

The primary professional responsibilities of instructional faculty members are: teaching, research, scholarship and/or creative activity, and service to the University, profession and to the community.  These responsibilities generally include: advising students, participation in campus and system-wide committees, maintaining office hours, working collaboratively and productively with colleagues, and participation in traditional academic functions.

The successful candidate will be expected to teach undergraduate and graduate courses in one or more of the following areas: introductory biology; cell biology; molecular biology; genetics; cell signaling; developmental biology; molecular genetics, depending on disciplinary expertise. The successful candidate will be expected to build a dynamic externally funded research program involving undergraduate and master’s students resulting in published research. The successful candidate must be willing to participate actively in course and curriculum development, with the opportunity to create courses in their area of expertise, and to develop and strengthen partnerships with the surrounding community.
