A Postdoctoral Researcher and a Staff Scientist positions are available in Dr. Wang’s lab at the Medical University of South Carolina (MUSC). We are seeking highly motivated and energetic scientists to study the role of cellular senescence in aging-related diseases, including Alzheimer’s disease (AD) and cancer. The successful candidates will lead one or more of the following projects: 1) study the mechanisms by which senescent glial cells affect the pathogenesis and progression of AD, 2) develop novel senolytic agents that can specifically target senescent cells for AD or cancer treatment, and 3) characterize the role of senescence in modulating the therapy-resistant properties and the metastatic potential of cancer stem cells. The successful candidates will receive transdisciplinary and translational biomedical research training with excellent career development opportunities and gain research experience in the areas of cellular senescence, cellular neurobiology, cancer stem cell biology, neuroscience, AD pathology and the mechanisms of AD pathogenesis, drug development, and experimental therapeutics. Applicants should have a recent Ph.D. or M.D. in neuroscience, molecular cell biology, immunology, cancer biology or a related field. Candidates with prior experience in transgenic mouse models, brain anatomy, IHC, ELISA, immunoblotting, flow cytometry, and confocal microscopy are preferred.
