Would you like to be part of the development and design of next-generation protein therapeutics and vaccines? By combining state-of-the art technologies in computational protein design with directed evolution methodologies, we are bringing a new perspective to difficult problems. We have an array of structural design, and protein engineering tools available, enabling us to revisit old paradigms and tackle viruses from new and promising angles while also developing new technologies (relevant to both industry and academia). The Strauch Lab (https://www.strauchlab.com) at the University of Georgia (UGA) is bringing together protein design and computational biology to exciting problems in infectious diseases and immunology. We are a highly collaborative, interdisciplinary environment. We have state-of-the-art lab equipment in the lab including our own cluster, flow cytometer, fluorescent activated cell sorter, mammalian tissue culture, BLI or whatever necessary for advanced protein engineering. Come join us!
Responsibilities
We are seeking an outstanding postdoctoral fellow with training in Biochemistry, Bioengineering, Chemical Engineering, Biophysics or related fields. Experience in computational biology and structural biology or alternatively knowledge working with NGS and high throughput screens, or lentiviral technology is a plus. Possible projects could address:
- design of novel immunogens or therapeutics against emerging viruses using computational structural design;
- characterize biochemical and biophysical properties of antigens and therapeutics.
Application
Interested candidates should submit, preferable in a single PDF:
(1) a cover letter describing:
- research experience and interests
- scientific achievements
- expected starting date
- career goals
(2) CV with contact information,
(3) sample publications
(4) a list of 2-3 references with email contact
