A post-doctoral position at the University of North Dakota School of Medicine and Health Sciences, Grand Forks, ND, is available immediately to study the role of immune changes in Alzheimer’s Disease. Using transgenic mouse models and behavioral, immunological, histological, and molecular methods, the post-doc will determine the role of peripheral immune cells in regulating brain changes related to AD. This position foresees extensive use of transgenic mice.

Remuneration / Salary: $42,000-$48,000/year; commensurate with qualifications

This position is a twelve (12) month, non-tenure track, special appointment with University of North Dakota (UND) School of Medicine and Health Sciences (SMHS), Department of Biomedical Sciences.

Job Summary and Responsibilities:
The post-doc will design and carry out experiments related to neuroimmune changes in peripheral organs and the brain during age as well as Alzheimer’s disease using transgenic mice. The post-doc will perform experiments, data analysis, write research papers of her/his findings and present the work at national meetings. Additionally, the post-doc will supervise students and junior lab members.

Minimum Requirements:

  • The qualified applicant must possess a Ph.D. and/or MD with 0-3 years of post-doctoral experience.
  •  Applicants must have demonstrable research experience in neuroscience and/or immunology and two or more of the following areas: rodent behavior, immunohistochemistry, flow cytometry, mouse surgery, cell culture, molecular biology.
  • The applicant must have published at least one peer-reviewed first author paper in a biomedical journal.
  • At least 1 year experience working with mice.
  • Successful completion of a criminal history records check.

In compliance with federal law, all persons hired will be required to verify identity and eligibility to work in the US and to complete the required employment eligibility verification form upon hire.

Preferred Requirements:

  • 2-3 years experience working with mouse models.
  • At least one paper published as first author focused on neuroscience or immune-related disease.
  • Experience with flow cytometry.
  • Experience with transgenic mouse studies.
