The Division of Internal Medicine has a shared resource infrastructure for all research administration activities. The primary purpose of the Grant Program Manager position is to provide administrative oversight and research administration support for the Division of Internal Medicine (DoIM) faculty members.

Job Specific Competencies:

1. Pre - Award administration
* Manages grant administration for the research and clinical faculty in the DoIM
* Submits proposals which includes collection of required documents, budget development and justification, COIs, and adherence to all sponsor and institutional guidelines
* Coordinates and navigates changes during proposal submissions, internally with faculty and externally with sponsors and collaborators,
* Develops and reviews all grants for accuracy and compliance in Division before submission to OSP.
* Communicates with the Office of Grants and Contracts, Office of Research Administration and sponsors regarding grant preparation/submission, including sub contracts, core grants, etc.
* Completes awarded budgets, progress reports and other ad hoc sponsor requests
* Communicates with personnel at other institutions (sub contracts) regarding deadlines, budgets and other requirements for division collaborative grants
* Develops and maintains a digital library of materials and resources for the Division and Departments
Creates documents containing specific information on all Department in the DoIM, to include employees, job titles, salaries, percent efforts, and starting/ending dates on funding sources; Grants-related documents; Budget templates

2. Post - Award administration:

* Reviews grant and contract awards for restrictions and special conditions and relays this to the award recipient and department
* Meets with new faculty to determine their research needs for grant submissions and general funding.
* Works with Grants and Contracts Accounting and NIH in assisting in the transfer of existing grants from former institutions if applicable
* Works closely with the DoIM departments Department Administrators and Financial analyst regarding research related fiscal matters

3. Research Administration:
* Supports effort reporting with the DoIM departments
* Meets quarterly with Principal Investigators to proactively review grant funding status, research personnel support and deadlines and to ensure compliance with prior approval requirements of each funding agency.

EDUCATION:
Required: Bachelor's degree.

Preferred: Master's degree.

EXPERIENCE:
Required: Two years of grant management experience such as grant writing, grant submission and financial administration and one year of lead or supervisory experience. May substitute required education degree with additional years of equivalent experience on a one to one year basis. Successful completion of the LEADing Self Accelerate program may substitute for one year of required supervisory or management experience.

Preferred: Basic science lab/administrative experience. Research financial (budget) experience.
