SUMMARY
The primary purpose of the Senior Flow Cytometry Specialist position is to operate flow cytometry and cell imaging instrumentation within a research core laboratory environment. Requires exceptional technical skills and teamwork with colleagues and researchers, and troubleshooting of flow cytometers and cell sorting machinery. Excellent computer skills are also necessary. Oversees the use of the flow cytometry equipment. Impacts operations of flow cytometry facility, user support and education and independent research.
JOB SPECIFIC COMPETENCIES
Flow Cytometry Equipment Maintenance: Participates in experiment setup, instrument quality control and routine maintenance.
Flow Cytometry Operations: Independently operates flow cytometers and cell sorters
Flow Cytometry Training: Trains researchers in use of cytometry equipment and software
Core Lab Service: Interacts with staff and assists with the execution experimental goals and assists with scheduling instrumentation and service.
Other duties as assigned: Specialized projects impacting Core Facility.
Bachelor's degree in biological sciences or related field. Five years of experience in scientific or experimental research work to include two years of flow cytometry experience. With preferred Master's degree, three years of required experience to include two years of flow cytometry experience.
