Summary of Duties and Responsibilities: A postdoctoral research associate position in Cell Mechanobiology is immediately available in Prof. Xuefeng Wang in the Department of Physics and Astronomy at Iowa State University. Prof. Wang studies cell mechanobiology and cell biophysics using state-of-art molecular force sensors. The individual in this position will apply molecular force sensor and single-molecule imaging microscopy to study cellular forces during cell adhesion and migration. Our current force sensor is capable of imaging single molecular tensions generated by cells, enabling cellular force study with unprecedented ultra-sensitivity and super-resolution. The recruited postdoc researcher will be commissioned with both method development and biological applications in this exciting frontier of mechanobiology. To obtain more information about the research and publications, please visit our website (https://faculty.sites.iastate.edu/xuefeng/). This position is supported by the NIH fund for three years. It is renewable after three years based on mutual satisfaction. The annual salary is commensurate with experience and starts at $50,000.
The successful candidate should be self-motivated with Ph.D. in cell biology, biophysics, biochemistry, bioengineering, molecular biology, or related fields. Experience in cell culture, fluorescence microscopy, and image analysis with Matlab is desired but not required. Interested individuals should submit a brief cover letter, CV, and the names and the contact information of 2-3 referees to Dr. Xuefeng Wang by email: xuefeng@iastate.edu.
Required Minimum Qualifications: Ph.D. in cell biology, biophysics, physics, biochemistry, bioengineering or related fields.
