The Department of Anesthesiology and Perioperative Medicine at the University of Alabama at Birmingham (UAB) seeks to fill an Assistant Professor faculty position. Applicants must have a PhD and/or MD degree and have demonstrated excellence in research on sensory physiology and pain, and be the principal investigator of at least one NIH R01 grant. Areas of research include, but are not limited to, molecular and cellular mechanisms underlying somatic and visceral sensations, the development of sensory dysfunctions (e.g., pathologic pain), biological processes for somatic and visceral sensory signaling and pain, peripheral and central pathways and circuits involving somatosensory and pain processes, and/or mouse genetics of somatosensory and pain. 

Applicants should have established research programs, continuous extramural support for the last five years and publications as first or senior author in high impact, peer-reviewed journals. Salary will be commensurate with qualifications and experience.
