The Center for Nanoscale Materials (CNM) at Argonne National Laboratory is seeking a postdoctoral researcher to perform theoretical research on electron-based quantum simulations, as well as relevant topics in condensed matter physics and fundamental quantum science.

The successful candidate will become part of a highly vibrant team and actively interact with staff scientists across groups, as well as external collaborators, in particular, from University of Chicago and Princeton University. The candidate should have a strong background in theoretical and computational quantum physics. Plentiful expertise in performing model-Hamiltonian calculation and first-principle calculation in strongly correlated electronic systems and cavity quantum electrodynamics systems is highly desirable.

This position is funded and renewable up to two years. Extension to the third year is possible depending on mutual interest and availability of funds.

Knowledge, Skills and Experience:

Required:

  • Knowledge and experience in theoretical quantum optics and condensed matter physics
  • Ability to effectively communicate both verbally and in writing

Preferred:

  • Knowledge and experience in strongly correlated electronic systems and cavity quantum electrodynamics
  • Strong modeling and programming skills

The position is available with a starting date no later than October 1, 2021. U.S. citizenship or permanent residency is not required. Interested candidates can apply by searching for req #410030 at https://www.anl.gov/hr/postdoctoral-applicants and send a curriculum vitae to Dr. Dafei Jin (djin@anl.gov).
