A 2-year NIH-funded postdoctoral research fellow position is available in the laboratory of Dr. Hong Zheng in the Basic Biomedical Sciences, at the University of South Dakota. The position will be focused on investigating the field of neural control of cardiovascular and kidney function. The successful individual will be involved in studying the role of central nervous system and neuromodulators in the control of sympathetic outflow, leading to regulation of cardiovascular function and renal function under normal and pathological states, such as chronic heart failure and obesity. Individual will have the opportunity to utilize a wide range of approaches including in vivo physiological recording sympathetic nerve activity, cardiovascular and renal function evaluation in conscious and anesthetized animal, opto- and chemo-genetics approaches, microdialysis, immunohistochemistry, molecular biology techniques, neuronal and kidney cell culture.

Ideal candidate will have a Ph.D. or M.D with a strong interest in physiology, cardiovascular and neuroscience research. The candidate should be highly motivated to learn new techniques and to develop new research avenues. Salary will commensurate with experience and NIH guidelines.
