Assistant, Associate, Full Professor: Stem Cell Biology and Regenerative/Restorative Medicine

The Department of Neurosurgery at Stanford University seeks a stem cell scientist with proven track record in stem cell biology and regenerative medicine to join the Department as Assistant, Associate or Full Professor in the University Tenure Line (UTL), Non-Tenure Line (Research) (NTLR), or Medical Center Line (MCL), to expand the department's program in basic/translational research. A focus on basic and translational research in neuro-restorative biology is desired. The predominant criterion for appointment in the University Tenure Line is a major commitment to research and teaching. The major criterion for appointment for faculty in the Non-tenure Line (Research) is evidence of high-level performance as a researcher for whose special knowledge a programmatic need exists. The major criteria for appointment for faculty in the Medical Center Line shall be excellence in the overall mix of clinical care, clinical teaching, scholarly activity that advances clinical medicine, and institutional service appropriate to the programmatic need the individual is expected to fulfill. Faculty rank and line will be determined by the qualifications and experience of the successful candidate.

The successful applicant should have a PhD and/or MD degree and be actively engaged or show promise in a laboratory research program. Consideration will also be given to scientists who have experience in working with primary patient samples and animal models, pluripotent stem cells, endogenous stem cells, and neuro-regeneration. Independent funding is seen as evidence of scholarly achievement/potential for independence.

Stanford is an equal employment opportunity and affirmative action employer. All qualified applicants will receive consideration for employment without regard to race, color, religion, sex, sexual orientation, gender identity, national origin, disability, protected veteran status, or any other characteristic protected by law. Stanford welcomes applications from all who would bring additional dimensions to the University's research, teaching and clinical missions.

The Neurosurgery Department, School of Medicine, and Stanford University value faculty who are committed to advancing diversity, equity, and inclusion. Candidates may optionally include as part of their research or teaching statement a brief discussion of how their work will further these ideals.
