With a unique Company culture, strong core values, operating in an industry with complex reimbursement policies and regulatory environments, Gilead Sciences Korea is seeking an experienced individual with proven adaptability and relevant industry experience as a country Finance Director. Ideally the candidate will have gained exposure to working within a US corporate environment.
As the principal financial advisor to Country GM and as a member of the Korea Leadership Team (KLT) and Regional and Worldwide Finance Leadership Team, below are key responsibilities expected of the role. Enhance effectiveness of the organization through insightful analysis and influence on strategic direction and execution.
Provide financial evaluation and enable decision making on proposal for investments.
Responsible for overall oversight of business partnership, financial control and planning and forecasting.
Manage a team of two direct reports and ensure developmental progress through coaching and guidance
Actively engage in company-wide Finance projects
Support the General Manager in delivering optimal performance from the Korean affiliate and ensure all risks and opportunities are understood by regional Asia 5 Management.
Represent the Finance organization in the Korean Leadership Team by focusing on strategic issues across multiple functions and establishing stretched yet attainable plans for the Korean affiliate.
Provide support in managing co-promotion relationship and participate quarterly Joint Steering Committee meetings.
Attend commercial meetings to gain and provide financial insights and independent perspectives.
Work closely with GM, Commercial teams and other market facing functions to develop affiliate LE/Budget deck and submit per the regional timeline.
Ensure affiliate LE/Budget is prepared in compliance with ICR and Asia 5 guideline.
Review actuals vs LE/Budget and engage stakeholders to ensure delivery on financial goals and commitments.
Ensure robust financial controls and management of risks by working closely with Regional finance teams - GBS, Controllership, Tax,Treasury etc
Manage and facilitate local statutory audits and Gilead internal audits
Ensure compliance with local statutory and tax reporting requirements.
Ensure monthly/quarterly/yearly financial reports are prepared timely and accurately in compliance with Local/USGAAP requirements.
Support local SOX requirements including both quarterly and yearly sign off.
Experience and Qualification:
Degree qualified in business, accounting or finance
Formal professional accountancy qualification (e.g KICPA, CPA etc)
Experience in Big 4 public accounting firm
15+ years' work experience with 8+ years within a multinational company in the Life Science / Heath care industry (ideally within a US corporate environment and in the Pharmaceutical industry)
Strong knowledge of local statutory requirements (e.g Local GAAP, ACVA, BEPS etc)
In-depth knowledge of US GAAP and SOX requirements
Knowledge of ERP system (Oracle/SAP preferred) and Microsoft office
Experience in managing statutory audits by tax office and customs office
Experience in working closely with a local co-promotion partner company
Experience in project management and system implementation
Fluency in verbal and written Korean & English
