We are seeking a highly motivated and creative scientist with expertise in virology and immunology to support drug development for a functional cure of chronic HBV and/or HDV infection. The successful candidate will support drug development efforts in the area of HBV/HDV cure. To support these programs, the RS will be responsible for developing new virology biomarkers, characterizing drug resistance, and investigating mechanism of action of new inhibitors. In addition, he/she will be the virology lead for ongoing HBV and HDV clinical studies. To contribute to the clinical studies, this position will conduct resistance analyses, write documents for regulatory submissions (IND/NDA), and prepare publication/ presentation of results.

Essential Functions:
  • Develop biomarkers for novel HBV cure modalities including new antivirals, targeted and immune-based therapies.
  • Identify and leading relevant external collaborations in areas applicable to HBV/HDV cure
  • Lead virology monitoring and characterization of drug resistance of novel compounds in the clinic
  • Build strong internal scientific expertise in vitro HBV/HDV infection models and introduce new tools, assays, and models relevant to HBV/HDV infection and treatment
  • Contribute to clinical studies through supporting regulatory submissions


Knowledge, Experience and Skills:

  • PhD or equivalent degree in virology or relevant scientific discipline and a minimum of 2 years of post-doctoral experience
  • In-depth knowledge of virology, molecular biology, immunology, and/or siRNA preferred.
  • A strong applicant will have extensive skill sets in cell biology, molecular biology and assay development -Excellent written and oral communication skills
  • Strong motivation, independence, and ability to work in a high-pace multidisciplinary environment with minimal supervision
  • -Ability to think independently and fully integrate into a high achieving team environment
