Assistant/Associate Professor of Surgery – Molecular Therapy Scientist

The Department of Surgery, Division of Pediatric Surgery at the University of California, San Francisco is seeking a full-time innovative scientist with expertise in cell and gene therapy/editing strategies to treat genetic diseases. The candidate will join a vibrant team of scientists working at the cutting edge of basic science and clinical medicine, particularly with respect to treating genetic disease before or shortly after birth. We especially seek candidates who are developing new therapies that have the potential for clinical applications, in partnership with our community of clinician-scientists.
The ideal candidate will lead a research program dedicated to developing new therapies for patients with genetic diseases. We welcome researchers who are developing new technologies or collaborating with other colleagues to test various technologies in unique settings.
Candidates must have a Ph.D., M.D., or equivalent degree with a strong background in gene therapy, genome editing, stem cell biology, immunology, or related fields.
Candidates must have recognized skills in the education of residents and medical students and will be expected to be active participants in the Department's residency training and educational programs.
