A postdoctoral position is available immediately to work on the extracellular NAD(P) [eNAD(P)]-mediated immune signaling pathway in Arabidopsis thaliana (see Wang et al. eLife 2017, 6:e25474; Wang et al. Nat Commun 2019, 10:4810).  eNAD(P) is a novel immune signaling molecule in plants, which is emerging as a key player in plant immunity.  The postdoctoral position is for one year with the possibility of extension.  Salary is commensurate with experience (up to $47,470).  A full benefits package including health insurance is provided with the position.  The University of Florida offers excellent opportunities in Plant Biology through the Interdisciplinary Plant Molecular and Cellular Biology program (http://pmcb.ifas.ufl.edu/).  Our laboratory is located in the Microbiology and Cell Science building (http://microcell.ufl.edu/), which provides state of the art infrastructure and an interdisciplinary research and education environment.  For more information visit our lab website at http://microcell.ufl.edu/people/faculty-directory/mou/ For project specifics, please contact Dr. Zhonglin Mou (email: zhlmou@ufl.edu).

JOB QUALIFICATIONS

A doctoral degree in plant molecular biology and/or plant biochemistry is required. Highly motivated individuals with a strong background in plant molecular biology and biochemistry are encouraged to apply.  Expertise in plant molecular biology and experience working with protein are required.  This position requires excellent interpersonal and communication skills in English as well as excellent writing skills as demonstrated by a strong publication record in peer reviewed high-impact journals.

The Department of Microbiology and Cell Science is committed to excellence in education, research and service to the community. B.S. degrees are offered through both the College of Agricultural and Life Sciences and the College of Liberal Arts and Sciences and the M.S. and Ph.D. degrees are offered through the College of Agricultural and Life Sciences.

The building is housed in Building 981 on the University of Florida campus in Gainesville, Fl. This 66,000 square foot building was constructed in 1994 and is thoroughly equipped with offices, classroom laboratories and with the instruments and resources necessary for research in modern biochemistry and molecular biology.

With an enrollment of approximately 1000 undergraduate majors, we are one of the largest undergraduate science programs at the University of Florida, and one of the largest microbiology programs in the country. There are over 50 students in our graduate program with the majority of them pursuing the Ph.D. degree. All full-time students in our graduate program are supported by assistantships or fellowships.
