Bioinformatics Scientist -Viral Vaccines


Pfizer is seeking a talented, self-motivated bioinformatics scientist with strong background database, data management, to join our viral vaccines R&D team at Pearl River. The successful candidate will work closely with a team of virologists, molecular biologists, bioinformatics scientists to design and implement cutting-edge flu and COVID-19 bioinformatics database system. You will have the opportunity to build sophisticated databases system which combines genomics data, antigenic data and other in vivo and invitro experimental data.

  • Implementing the data infrastructure for tracking, searching, and making use of our genomic and other laboratory data
  • Identify new technologies to collect connect and manage disparate flu data types across various internal and external sources
  • Development of databases, data management tools, and/or web applications for flu/COVID-19 vaccines program
  • Manages server in enterprise environment, including installation, configuration, backup, recovery, upgrades, and schema changes
  • Conduct data collection, gathering requirements and other duties as assigned

  • Bachelor's degree in computer science or related field from an accredited university with 6+ years of experience or master with 4 years of experience in database design, development, and administration
  • Hands-on experience with traditional RDBMS such as MySQL as well as NoSQL architecture
  • In-depth understanding and experience with of data management (e.g. permissions, recovery, security, and monitoring)
  • Experienced with database API development
  • Experience with nontraditional data types such as JSON
  • Hands-on experience of Node.JS, Angular.JS is desirable
  • Demonstrated experience using UNIX/Linux and shell scripting languages (Bash)
