The Wistar Institute has an opening for a motivated, hard-working and collegial Post-Doctoral Fellow trained in molecular and cellular biology to join the laboratory of Dr. Maureen Murphy. The Murphy lab studies the genetics of the p53 suppressor protein, focusing on genetic variants of p53 that exist in populations of African-descent (P47S and Y107H) and Ashkenazi Jewish (G334R). Dr. Murphy seeks to understand the impact of these genetic variants of p53 on cancer risk and the efficacy of cancer therapy, using cell lines and animal models. Dr. Murphy also studies the cancer-survival protein HSP70. Her lab employs a novel series of HSP70 inhibitors for melanoma and colorectal cancer therapy.

Candidates should have a PhD (or equivalent) degree or should be close to obtaining their doctoral degree. In addition to the online application, please submit a curriculum vitae and contact details of three references to Dr. Maureen Murphy via e-mail at mmurphy@wistar.org.
