What You Will Achieve

This is a laboratory-based position within the Vaccine Research and Development - Analytical Development group. The primary focus of this role is to independently design and execute analytical assay qualification and transfer studies in support of GLP release of early-stage vaccines for a range of antigens . Assays include standard analytical separations (HPLC, CE, etc.), spectroscopic techniques (UV), and bioassays (PCR-based, Slot Blot, nephelometry, ELISA). In addition, the candidate will be expected to provide analytical support for bioprocess and formulation development by performing routine and non-routine sample testing.

How You Will Achieve It

  • Provide lab-based assay qualification support under GLP. The candidate should be familiar with the ICH guidelines for method qualification and would be expected to design, plan, and execute assay development, qualification, and transfer studies with a high degree of independence.
  • Working knowledge of separation-based assays such as CE and HPLC with various detection modes including CAD; biological PCR-based assays, Slot Blot, ELISA, and nephelometry.
  • Provide lab-based assay development support as needed.
  • Perform routine and non-routine sample analysis support for in-process, formulation development, and final vaccine candidates.
  • Document experiments, analyze data, and provide conclusions obtained from assay development/ qualification and sample testing experiments.
  • Author and review laboratory methods and reports.
  • The individual is expected to contribute and participate in general laboratory maintenance activities (such as maintenance of equipment, managing laboratory waste).


Qualifications

Must-Have

  • PhD in Chemistry, Biochemistry, or a related discipline with at least 2 years of academic, pharmaceutical, or biotechnology experience or an MS plus 7 years of related work experience is required.
  • Design and execution of method qualification following ICH guidelines is a must.
  • Experience and proficiency in separation-based analytical techniques (HPLC-UV, HPLC-CAD, HPLC-FLD, and CE), and bioassays (PCR-based techniques such as RT-PCR and qPCR, Slot Blot, ELISA, and nephelometry) are essential.
  • Demonstrated technical skills and scientific expertise in analytical method development and troubleshooting.
  • Strong verbal and written communication as well as excellent documentation skills are required.
