Research Field and Overview
RIKEN invites applications for the position of Team Leader (indefinite-term employment position) to serve in a leadership position in the following research area. The successful candidate will be responsible for directing research projects from a medium-to-long-term perspective.
Field: Research on plant growth regulation and productivity
Based on the understanding of regulatory mechanism of plant growth and productivity, innovative research is expected for understanding of transporters of important regulatory molecules such as plant hormones, RNAs and peptides from single cell to multicellular levels. New research field is expected to contribute to strengthen sustainable useful materials and food productivity.
The Center for Sustainable Resource Science (CSRS) is committed to five flagship projects from 2018, the start of the current mid-to-long term goals and plan period, which are Innovative Plant Biotechnology, Metabolic Genome Engineering, Innovative Catalysts, Leading-edge Polymers, Advanced Research and Technology Platform, along with the goals of the UN-adopted Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) and COP21. Among them, the Innovative Plant Biotechnology project contributes establishment of “Sustainable Resource Science” through production of resilient crops for climate changes to maintain food and biomass securities.
In this recruitment motivated leader is expected who can perform core activities of Innovative Plant Biotechnology area through the collaboration with Academia, Industry and Government.
