As the Senior Director, People Technology, you have primary responsibility for leading the development of a long-term strategic vision and global roadmap for all aspects of People Technology within and across Gilead.

You are an innovator that puts the end user's voice at the center of everything you do and delivers value at speed. You will manage a high-performing and highly motivated team that designs, develops, implements, and supports new or existing changes/enhancements to Gilead's HR technology. Partnering with COEs, HR Shared Services, IT and external vendors, you will create the global portfolio roadmap in alignment to the HR strategy and drive the vision and strategy of these initiatives to enable the business. Above all else, you are a leader who focuses on people development and talent attraction/retention, establishing market-leading practices and future focus, challenging the status quo, and operating with transparency.

SPECIFIC JOB RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Provide oversight and structure to ensure effective delivery of HR technology projects / programs, including portfolio management, influencing and managing initiative prioritization, cost tracking and change management.

  • Provide a global view and identify opportunities for global alignment, regional responsibilities, and local technology needs.

  • Lead HR technology product managers to create and maintain roadmaps for each of the HR technology domains (Recruiting, Core HRIS, Learning, ServiceNow, etc.) and ensure strategies are in place to maximize adoption of new and existing HR technology by employees, managers and HR.

  • Actively shape HR transformation roadmap by identifying key technology enablers including support of Gilead's HR service delivery model, self-service and employee experience.

  • Work with HR Shared Services and HR COE leaders to identify and execute HR technology improvement opportunities balancing both end-user experience and the operation's needs.

  • Provide oversight and structure to ensure effective delivery of People Technology solutions/projects/programs, including portfolio management, influencing and managing initiative prioritization, cost tracking and change management.

  • Enhance platform governance to ensure optimal prioritization of team resources and to manage stakeholder expectations.

  • Develop and ensure compliance to team's SLAs to ensure high level of customer service and responsiveness.

  • Ensure integrity, privacy and security of all HR's data through the design and enforcement of procedures and standards.

  • Build and maintain a strong functional team through training, coaching, team building and knowledge sharing.

  • Maintain technical business relationships with vendors to understand their strategic path for the future. Ensure delivery of agreed-upon support and service level agreements, act as the point of escalation to resolve any vendor issues. Participate in annual vendor review and strategic planning.

  • Maintain awareness of vendor plans and the potential impact of those plans on current and future HR systems functionality.

    KNOWLEDGE

  • Minimum education and years of relevant experience, including experience in biotech/pharma sector and/or professional services (e.g. consulting, finance, legal, and/or corporate experience in a relevant function)

  • B.S./B.A. + 14 or more years of experience

  • M.B.A./Masters/PhD + 12 or more years of experience

  • 7+ years of relevant leadership experience within consulting or forward-thinking HR organization is required

  • Deep expertise in HR technology, including Workday HCM and ServiceNow HR solutions

  • Ability to understand business needs to drive consensus among business leaders to enable transformation and advance strategic priorities while building rapport and fostering a collaborative working environment

  • Exceptional communication skills and an above average ability to translate technology concepts to others and experience resolving conflicts across different groups of stakeholders

  • Deep understanding and perspective on emergent HR technologies and how they create value, drive scale and shape the next generation of products

  • Proven transformational experience implementing solutions across people, process and technology for a large, globally diverse organization

  • Strong oral and written communication skills, with impeccable customer service skills, positive attitude, and display professionally mature behavior in challenging situations; ability to communicate effectively and work with confidential and sensitive information at all levels of a large, complex organization

  • Ability to deliver in a highly matrixed and rapidly growing and changing environment

  • Managed a budget over $10MM with capital and non-capital plans as well as subscriptions/licensing, payroll, and employee related expenses

  • Negotiated large vendor contracts and maintained successful vendor relations

  • Worked with teams in various operating models including; dev/ops, on-shore, off-shore, factory-model, matrixed

  • Proven ability to build credibility and trust with a diverse audience and be perceived as a leader

    Preferred

  • Agile/Lean/Six Sigma methodology

  • Workday or ServiceNow HR certification

  • WalkMe implementation experience

  • Big 6 consulting experience
