The DeMatteo Lab at the University of Pennsylvania is seeking an individual for a full-time post-doctoral research position. We perform translational cancer research, specifically in the study of gastrointestinal stromal tumors (GISTs). GIST is the most common human sarcoma and is usually caused by a mutation in the Kit oncogene. The main focus of our laboratory is understanding and manipulating the anti-tumor immune response to GIST. We have developed multiple immunocompetent genetically engineered mouse models and we also have regular access to fresh human tumor specimens. The other priority is the investigation of GIST oncogenesis and growth, with the goal of identifying novel therapeutic strategies. Candidates should be proficient in basic cell and molecular biology techniques and have experience with immunophenotyping and immunologic assays.
Qualifications for the position include a doctoral degree (PhD and/or MD) and relevant expertise in immunology, molecular biology, cell culture techniques, and mouse models.
