Job Description:
Description of Duties:
We are seeking a Postdoctoral Associate to contribute to our research program in bacterial population genomics and evolution ( Our lab generates and analyzes large genomic datasets from diverse bacterial species to understand the ecological and evolutionary processes (e.g., horizontal gene transfer, recombination, selection) that shape the population structure, adaptation and speciation in bacteria. The Postdoctoral Associate will have access to numerous resources including a high-performance computing cluster, established analytical pipelines, molecular biology laboratory with sequencing technology, and a plethora of high-quality genomic data. The candidate will have the opportunity to develop innovative bioinformatics methods or pipelines that fit with the general priorities of the group. This position is funded by the U.S. National Science Foundation and is available immediately.

Minimum Qualifications

  • A PhD degree received within the past three years from a college or university accredited by a USDOE, or an internationally recognized accrediting organization in computational biology, bioinformatics, genomics, systems biology, evolutionary biology, microbiology or related fields.
  • Experience with next generation sequencing data analysis, genetic knowledge, and statistical fluency.
  • Experience in at least one scripting language and familiarity with Unix/Linux computing environments are required.
  • Demonstrated ability to work with a culturally diverse population

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Candidates should demonstrate a track record of consistent publication.
  • Strong organizational, written, and oral communication skills.
  • Should be able to work both independently and as part of a team.
  • Molecular biology laboratory skills are welcomed but not essential.

Additional Information:
Salary Range:  $50,000-$57,000 Depending on experience and qualifications
