The Saint Louis University Henry and Amelia Nasrallah Center for Neuroscience is seeking a highly motivated investigator in pain research at the Assistant/Associate professor level within the tenure track. The faculty member will be appointed in the Department of Pharmacology and Physiology in the School of Medicine, a vibrant multidisciplinary, highly collaborative and dynamic department. Faculty members within the Department have expertise in several areas of pharmacology and physiology, with a particular emphasis in neuroscience and metabolism. The Department offers access to excellent core facilities and opportunities to join collaborative centers including the Liver Center, the Institute for Drug and Biotherapeutic Innovation, and the Institute of Clinical and Translational Sciences, and internal funding mechanisms for project support. Members of our community have access to the nationally-acclaimed Cortex Innovation Community, to multiple local startup-supporting institutions and to the fast-growing, cutting-edge medical and biotechnology community which operates actively throughout the St. Louis region. While the position sits in the Department of Pharmacology and Physiology, candidates involved in related discipline actively engaged in pain research, such as drug discovery, structural biology and chemical biology are encouraged to apply.

Qualifications and Responsibilities

Candidates should have a PhD or MD/PhD degree, a minimum of two years of postdoctoral studies, and a strong publication record. The ideal candidate will complement current areas of expertise of the existing Pharmacology and Physiology faculty in the area of pain research. Candidates for employment as Assistant Professor will be expected to develop an innovative, extramurally funded research program, participate in the educational mission of the Department, and engage in University service. Applicants for employment at the level of Associate Professor will be expected to have current external (NIH) funding.
