For more information on AI and ML at GSK, please visit: https://www.gsk.ai/working-with-us/ GSK is seeking a translational and computational pathologist to integrate knowledge of disease mechanisms with drug mechanism of action to inform drug development. The successful candidate will work closely with research & development scientists who discover and develop drugs for the treatment of cancer and discover and develop biomarkers for pharmacodynamic assessment and patient selection for clinical trials. In addition, the successful candidate will work with the AI/ML team to develop computational pathology capabilities and applications in design, validation and construction of novel predictive algorithms based upon anatomic pathology images. The role is embedded within the Experimental Medicine Unit (EMU) in Oncology R&D and works across R&D to ensure that strategies for the treatment and cure of disease are based on accurate analysis of pathogenetic mechanisms. Reporting to the VP Head Precision Medicine and Companion Diagnostics, key elements of the role include: Provides expertise in the molecular, cellular, systems biology, and pathogenic mechanisms of disease Provides pathology expertise and support for drug, biomarker and diagnostic programs in oncology Applies a broad range of diagnostic modalities (anatomic and heme pathology)and translational pathology tools and technology, including assay or digital pathology image analysis algorithm development In partnership with the VP of Diagnostic & Precision Medicine (DxPM) and the Biomarker Leads within the EMU will evaluate and implement novel tissue-based assays and/or analytical techniques Aid in integrating data across different diagnostic platforms in partnership with DxPM team within the EMU Applies special skills in anatomic and computational pathology including immunohistochemistry, multiplexed immunofluorescence; ii) Spatial or single-cell transcriptomics iii) Quantitative image analysis including artificial intelligence or machine learning, or iv) Advanced microscopy applications Works with the EMU and AI/ML organization on the development of computation pathology capabilities and applications, involved in the design, validation and construction of training and validation data Works with AI/ML organization on the multimodal integration of pathology data with medical imaging, cfDNA, and other data sources. Contributes to regulatory submission documentation; Represents GSK to regulatory organizations, professional organizations; Interacts with key opinion leaders and contract research organizations (as needed) Involved in the design of ethical and transparent AI/ML systems *LI-GSK Why you? Minimum Qualifications: We are seeking a professional with the following qualifications and skills to achieve our goals: MD or MD/PhD, with Board Certification in Anatomic Pathology and 10+ years relevant academic and industry work experience. Excellent traditional diagnostic pathology skills demonstrating a strong ability to interpret pathology data in the context of a deep understanding of molecular and cellular biology. Demonstrated ability to handle several projects at any given time, to work successfully and collaboratively in teams and to communicate clearly both verbally and in writing to a variety of audiences. Preferred Qualifications: MD or MD/PhD with Board Certification in Anatomic Pathology/Clinical Pathology Board Certification in Hematopathology is preferred Why GSK?
