As Sr. Scientist, you will be contributing to various studies and be responsible for delivering critical pre-clinical data analysis. This role will provide YOU the opportunity to lead key activities to progress YOUR career. The candidate will support early stage drug discovery efforts within the Novel Human Genetics Research Unit by developing and executing biochemical and cell biology experiments to identify and validate novel drug targets across a range of disease indications. The position requires excellent organizational skills, problem-solving abilities, management of multiple ongoing tasks, and the ability to work effectively within a matrix team environment. Why you? Basic Qualifications: We are looking for professionals with these required skills to achieve our goals: A BS with 4+ years of experience in biology, biochemistry, pharmacology, molecular/cell biology, immunology, or related scientific discipline or a MS with 2+ years of experience in biology, biochemistry, pharmacology, molecular/cell biology, immunology, or related scientific discipline. Experience in basic molecular biology methods, including PCR and nucleic acid isolation and routine cell isolation and culture methods. Experience with the design and execution of biochemical and cell-based assays, including the application of enzyme activity and protein binding techniques, and the investigation of cellular signaling pathways using ELISA, immunoblotting, and gene expression analysis Experienced in maintaining detailed records and reviewing scientific literature. Preferred Qualifications: If you have the following characteristics, it would be a plus: Capable of independent experimental protocol development and the analysis and interpretation of scientific data. Highly organized and flexible in role assignments with solid written and oral communication skills. Familiarity with mechanisms and models of metabolic diseases. Experience with gene expression manipulation techniques, such as siRNA/shRNA and lentiviruses. Experience with the isolation and handling of induced pluripotent stem cells. Why GSK?
