Within the Analytical Development US, the Scientist, PhysicoChemical Characterization will serve as Subject Matter Expert (SME) in state-of-the-art spectroscopy (Mass /Optical) and sizing technologies and its application to vaccine development. The Scientist will be responsible for the design, development of qualitative/quantitative spectroscopic methodologies and data analysis approaches. The role will support drug substance/drug product characterization, product and process development, the development and transfer of release methods for GMP testing. This role will provide YOU the opportunity to lead key activities to progress YOUR career, these responsibilities include some of the following… Will provide support and technical knowledge in dealing with regulatory filings specifically related to spectroscopy and product characterization. Collaborates with other development functions (locally and globally) to meet project deliverable and timelines. Lead the in evaluation and developability of Mass spectroscopy, Fluorescence, FTIR, Raman, CD, MALS, AUC, Calorimetry based assay development. Serve as subject matter expert on new and existing mass spectroscopy and spectroscopy platforms. Explore new materials, methods, instrumentation, and equipment Plans, designs and execute the studies when assigned to the project. Present results internally and externally at industry and scientific conferences. Publish in top tier journals. Follow GSK procedures and core values Why you? Basic Qualifications: We are looking for professionals with these required skills to achieve our goals: MS (6+ years) experience in mass spectrometry, bio/analytical, biochemistry, pharmaceutical chemistry. Experience with high resolution analysis of protein, carbohydrates, lipids, polynucleotides (DNA/RNA) and nanoparticle characterization. Operating and maintaining state-of- the-art MS instruments including, but not limited to Thermo Orbitrap, Waters Xevo QTOF, AB Experience in operating and maintain biophysical characterization instrumentation. Preferred Qualifications: If you have the following characteristics, it would be a plus: Ph.D. (0-3+ years) experience in mass spectrometry, bio/analytical, biochemistry, pharmaceutical chemistry. A detail-oriented self-starter and be able to work independently under minimum supervision Experience with, liquid handling systems, and robotic automation. Hands-on experience with applying MS- based methodologies such as H/D exchange, chemical crosslinking, SILAC, MRM, top down/Bottom up, peptide mapping, PTM characterization, HCP profiling, glycan analysis, disulfide bond mapping.
