Research Assistant Professor

The Division of Endocrinology of the Department of Medicine and Therapeutics is internationally renowned for excellence in clinical, genomic, and epidemiological research in diabetes. The division is seeking an outstanding candidate and inviting applications for a Research Assistant Professorship to undertake independent projects related to diabetes epidemiology using healthcare big data including electronic health records and data from open-source platforms.

Applicant should have (i) a PhD degree in population health sciences, epidemiology, biostatistics, or related disciplines; (ii) at least two years’ postdoctoral experience in epidemiology of diabetes and cardio-metabolic diseases; (iii) strong academic credentials; (iv) a research record demonstrated by publishing papers in high-impact refereed journals; and (v) commitment in good quality research and a strong motivation for a future independent career.
 
The appointee will be expected to (a) develop and participate in research projects including collaborative projects; (b) apply for external competitive research grants such as RGC and HMRF grants; (c) supervise postgraduate students; and (d) teach courses at undergraduate and/or postgraduate levels.

Appointment will initially be made on contract basis for up to three years commencing as soon as possible, renewable subject to performance, funding availability and mutual agreement. This is a non-tenure track appointment.
