Position Description

The Department of Pediatrics, at the University of Washington School of Medicine and the Center for Global Infectious Disease Research in the Seattle Children's Research Institute is recruiting a full time Assistant Professor without tenure, commensurate with experience and qualifications, on the faculty-scientist track.  This is a 12-month service period position with an anticipated start date of Winter 2021.

The successful applicant will join the faculty of 20 scientists to establish and lead an independent and extramurally-funded research program, actively collaborate with other faculty and scientists, participate in teaching and mentoring graduate and postdoctoral students as well as junior faculty investigators.  The successful applicant will also enjoy a competitive start-up package and excellent space and state-of-the-art facilities in the Research Institute.

Applications are invited in any area of basic or translational laboratory-based research relevant to infectious diseases, including systems biology, immunology and biotechnology.

University of Washington faculty engage in teaching, research and service.

Qualifications

Requires a Ph.D. or M.D. (or foreign equivalent).  A combined MD/PhD (or foreign equivalent) is also acceptable.

The successful candidate must have a record of research excellence and productivity in infectious disease research on host or pathogen cell biology, immunology or human immunology.
