For high-end synchrotron radiation applications, the 3rd generation source PETRA III is available since 2009 as one of the most brilliant hard X-Ray sources worldwide currently operating 23 undulator beamlines for experiments utilizing the extreme source brilliance. The "Hard X-Ray Micro/Nano-Probe" beamline P06 is dedicated to multimodal imaging of elemental distributions and structural/chemical phases of complex samples on the micrometer and nanometer length scale.

About the role:

  • Development of own independent research program in X-ray microscopy and participation in collaborative projects with external groups
  • Technical support and user support at the scanning X-ray microscopy experiment (X-ray fluorescence, ptychography, diffraction, spectroscopy)
  • Develop and support data acquisition and data analysis software

To be successful in this role:

  • PhD in physics or related disciplines
  • Experience with X-ray microbeam methods using synchrotron radiation
  • Experimental skills and interest in instrumentation development
  • Knowledge in Python or a similar programming language
  • Excellent knowledge of English
