Gilead has embarked on a series of infrastructure investments, continuing its impressive growth as a leading Biopharmaceutical company. The Corporate Engineering & Facilities organization within Gilead is responsible for thoughtfully developing and executing the company's facility infrastructure strategy. The group is composed of functions that include Corporate Engineering, Real Estate Strategy, Global Facilities Management and Operations, Sustainability Health and Safety. These functions work closely together to define a cohesive approach to design, build and sustain facility assets that allow Gilead to grow its current operations globally. The group manages facility holdings in excess of 2.8M square feet globally and is also responsible for executing key real estate transactions around the world to support commercial and research growth.

As a part of the Real Estate Strategy we are looking to grow our Capital Planning function within the Corporate Engineering & Facilities organization by creating a role for Capital Planning Analyst. You will be a part of this evolving function providing key contributions to long range planning of Capital ideas and developing KPIs to keep the capital plan on track and manage the changes that impact the capital plan. The Capital Planning Analyst role will support the Capital Planning as well as Master Planning functions within the Real Estate Strategy function. They will be involved in detailed analysis and reporting on process of the capital plan and responsible to manage it in an existing Information management system. Responsible for using knowledge and experience in financial management, program controls, a working knowledge of the design and construction industry is a plus. This role will report to Associate Director, Capital Planning and Program Controls.

You must be able to roll-up your sleeves and be passionate about your work, detail-oriented, analytical, and have excellent problem-solving abilities. You'll drive towards simple, scalable solutions to difficult problems, have excellent project-management skills, and be able to communicate complex analytical results in a clear and easy-to-understand way.

Essential Duties and Job Functions:

  • Apply your expertise in quantitative analysis and the presentation of data to help inform and influence key business decisions around capital investment for Corporate Engineering and Facilities (CEF) organization

  • Support the forum for CEF growth initiatives by providing guidance on new ideas and cost considerations, as well as help develop scalable tools and processes

  • Develop spend and schedule analytics, and key metrics to help drive actionable strategies for the business

  • Perform deep-dive analyses to deliver insights on the root causes of issues and make recommendations to drive changes in business strategy to leadership

  • Drive decision-making and prioritization for the business through analyzing data, identifying trends, and producing optimized capital deployment strategies

  • Convey a data-driven story to technical and non-technical audiences around key business insights, in collaboration with key cross-functional partners

  • Develop processes and help implement these in the Help with process development in Visio by communication

  • Experience or knowledge of financial analysis including Net Present Value, Rate of Return on Investment etc.

  • Able to manage and operate Capital Planning data management and scenarios planning using a pre-established planning system

  • Able to interpret and analyze data from at high level data from Facilities Management system

  • Data science, management consulting, and private equity experience is appreciated.

  • Able to think in generalist scale for master plan support.

    Minimum Qualifications:

  • BS or MS in a quantitative field (Engineering, Economics, Finance, Statistics, or similar discipline)

  • Experience turning complex and ambiguous problem statements into structured solutions while working in a highly cross-functional environment

  • 5+ years of experience in managing costs in cross functional organization

  • 2+ years of experience with data mining, producing data analytics using Tableau or Power BI, SQL (or equivalent) or Visual Basic

  • 2+ years of experience working with data visualization tools, including using advanced functionality (e.g. data blending)

  • Experience analyzing and interpreting data, drawing conclusions, and defining recommended actions across technical and non-technical groups

  • Experience managing stakeholder relationships

  • Acute and sharp business acumen and a blend of strategic and tactical know-how on business concepts

  • Ability to introduce new ideas and able to implement them in day to day operations

  • Working knowledge of the Design and Construction industry
