Why Patients Need You

Pfizer's purpose is to deliver breakthroughs that change patients' lives. Research and Development is at the heart of fulfilling Pfizer's purpose as we work to translate advanced science and technologies into the therapies and vaccines that matter most. Whether you are in the discovery sciences, ensuring drug safety and efficacy or supporting clinical trials, you will apply cutting edge design and process development capabilities to accelerate and bring the best in class medicines to patients around the world.

What You Will Achieve

As a Senior Associate Scientist, you will be at the center of our operations and you'll find that everything we do, every day, is in line with an unwavering commitment to quality. You will be part of a team that is addressing the critical task of rejuvenating our pipeline with innovative, differentiated First-In-Class/ Only-In-Class programs in the years to come. This will be addressed by generation of strong data packages from target hypotheses derived from academic outreach and initiatives. You will be an essential member of this team and creatively design and execute key experiments to address the basic and translational biology of novel drug targets, their molecular pathways, and their connection to human disease. With your knowledge in the discipline, you will be an active team member contributing at the project team level. You will be using your scientific judgment with guidance from your manager and/or peer experts to adapt standard methods and techniques by applying prior work experience and consulting others. Your ability to plan will help in preparing short-term work activities on projects.

The candidate should have skills and expertise in tissue culture, various assay technologies, assay development, automation and instrumentation, and data analysis. This is an exciting opportunity to combine research and technology in order to help Pfizer discover breakthrough medicines that change patients' lives.

How You Will Achieve It
  • Perform cell based assays HTS while using various specialized robotic systems and data management software packages.
  • Optimize/Miniaturize existing assays as well as develop new assays for HTS.
  • Grow, maintain, and scale up >10 cancer cell lines simultaneously in order to generate cell reagents for downstream assays.
  • Critically QC and process results
  • Prioritize and organize one's own work to meet deadlines.
  • Help maintain laboratory instruments
  • Record experiments and results into laboratory notebooks.

  • A B.S in biochemistry, biology, bioengineering, chemistry, or other related field with 3+ years in an industrial or academic pharmaceutical laboratory setting.
  • 3+ years of cell biology/tissue culture experience and a minimum of 1+ years in a HTS environment.
  • Excellent aseptic techniques and organization to perform tissue culture of >10 cell lines simultaneously without cross contamination.
  • Familiarity with assay technologies such as HiBiT, ePL, NanoBRET, Luminescence, Fluorescence, HTRF, ELISA, MSD.
