Role Summary

Pfizer is seeking a talented individual to join our ARD organization to enable development of biological therapeutics and vaccines. The Associate Scientist position within the Bioassay and Impurity Testing
Group will be responsible for supporting the development and lifecycle maintenance of critical reagents and bioassays (ELISA, Cell Based & qPCR) used to evaluate the potency of biological candidates in clinical development. This position will provide laboratory support and contribute data and knowledge to the development of a diverse portfolio of biotherapeutics including monoclonal antibodies, fusion proteins, vaccines, and other novel biological modalities. The successful candidate will have excellent organizational and communication skills, as well as general knowledge of immunoassays and cell-based functional assays.

Role Responsibilities

  • The candidate is responsible for detailed and accurate electronic documentation, including data entry and review of records in validated systems.
  • The candidate is responsible for material inventory management, including aliquoting and shipping.
  • The candidate is responsible for testing and qualification of critical reagents in a GMP environment.
  • The candidate is responsible for executing bioassay test methods as needed.
  • Attention to detail, strong organizational skills and the ability to multi-task are required.
  • The candidate is expected to document and report lab work according to GMP practices.
  • The candidate must be able to interact effectively with peers and leaders as part of a multi-disciplinary team.
  • The candidate must thrive in a fast-paced environment.


Qualifications

Must-Have

  • Bachelor's degree in biology, biochemistry, immunology, biotechnology or related field with 1-2 years of experience in managing reagents, performing qPCR-based assays, immunoassays (e.g. ELISA), and/or cell based assays.
  • Proven record of delivering results in a fast paced environment and effective communication to project teams.
  • Demonstrated technical writing skills and good interpersonal skills.
  • Good documentation skills with high attention to detail, strong organizational skills, team oriented.


Nice-to-Have

  • Experience with Quality Systems in a Good Manufacturing Practices (also cGMP) environment.
  • Experience with laboratory data systems.
  • Hands on experience or working knowledge in Pharmaceutical industry in handling of analytical instruments.
  • Knowledge of drug development process for progression of biological incumbents.


PHYSICAL/MENTAL REQUIREMENTS

Position requires occasional light lifting and periods of standing, sitting or walking.
