Directors (f/m/x) of the new INSTITUTE of AI for HEALTH
We seek to appoint two experts in developing novel machine learning methods with a strong focus on solving computational challenges for human health. This comprises, but is not limited to probabilistic machine learning, deep representation learning the integration of learning from simulations and realworld observations. Potential applications could include the analysis of disease dynamics in population co-horts, the prediction of molecule structures for drug development, the design of deep learning algorithms for biomedical imaging and diagnostic sensors, the management and mining of electronic health records for optimal treatment inference, and the integration of multiomics data for precision medicine.
The tenured positions belong to the newly founded Institute of AI for Health that will be jointly coordinated by three directors. The institute is part of a thriving Computational Health environment at the Helmholtz Zentrum München and is going to be embedded in ELLIS Munich (https://www.ellismunich.ai). An association with one of the Munich universities is planned.
We are looking for candidates who have demonstrated excellent achievements in applied machine learning research in an internationally recognized scientific environment. A university degree and an outstanding doctoral degree or equivalent scientific qualification are prerequisites. Substantial research experience abroad is expected.
The Helmholtz Zentrum München provides excellent working conditions combined with a competitive package consisting of salary, staff positions and running costs; comprehensive administrative support and outstanding computing resources are fully available. The post holders will be embedded in the vibrant research environment of the greater Munich area and connect scientifically to Germany and Europe through Helmholtz AI and ELLIS. Our center is multicultural, with English serving as the common language for scientific interaction. We provide tailored career consulting to the partners of newly appointed research heads and give assistance for relocation and integration of accompanying family members.
The Helmholtz Zentrum München, holder of the Bavarian Advancement of Women Prize and of the Total E-Quality Certificate, is an equal opportunity employer and aims to increase the number of women in research. As such, we explicitly encourage applications from women. Applications from disabled persons with the same qualifications as other candidates will be given preference.
Please send your full application including the standard documents (CV, publication list, certified copy of the highest academic qualification, evidence of formal qualifications, additional specialized trainings as well as a statement on future research interest) no later than July 27th, 2021 to
