The Department of Biology at Syracuse University (biology.syr.edu) is seeking applications for a non-tenure-track Assistant Teaching Professor to teach primarily Biochemistry and Biotechnology undergraduate and graduate level classes, starting in fall 2021. This position will be hired on a three-year appointment with the possibility of renewal. Syracuse University has a promotion structure for Teaching Professors, with Associate Teaching Professors and Full Teaching professors being eligible for renewable contracts of up to five years. Teaching Professors are full members of the departmental and university community and are eligible to vote on department, college and university decisions excluding tenure-track faculty hiring and promotion and tenure decisions.

 

Candidates should have a Ph.D. in a relevant area of Biology or a closely related field and relevant teaching experience. Preference will be given to candidates with expertise and/or teaching experience in Biochemistry and Biotechnology, including teaching laboratory classes. Industry experience would be an advantage. Syracuse University is particularly interested in candidates who demonstrate past accomplishment toward fostering diversity and inclusion in their teaching.
