The Center for Infection and Immunity (CII) is seeking a Data Manager/Data Analyst to support research programs in myalgic encephalomyelitis/chronic fatigue syndrome and long-term consequences of COVID-19, in addition to other Center programs. The Data Manager/Data Analyst will work independently under the general direction of the CII Biostatistician and with CII faculty when necessary. The incumbent will conduct data management processes and perform basic and more extensive statistical analyses on datasets. S/he/they will assist in the creation of data visualizations and tables for inclusion in grant applications, presentations, and manuscripts. The incumbent will provide support for study design, sampling and considerations of sample sizes, and analytic strategies. The ideal candidate must be able to adapt to a fast-paced environment with evolving project responsibilities and demonstrate meticulous attention to detail.

Responsibilities:

  • Conduct quality control for clinical survey data and data management processes for past and present datasets. Maintain and prepare analytic datasets/databases for clinical projects by merging clinical, laboratory, and questionnaire data as necessary – 50%
  • Develop and implement systems to identify research participants that have participated/will participate in multiple studies at the Center – 5%
  • Maintain and update the questionnaires for CII projects in REDCap, export of data and data dictionaries, and act as the administrator for Center activities within REDCap – 5%
  • Provide support in the development of survey materials to optimize data collection quality and downstream data processing in collaboration with Project Coordinators and faculty – 5%
  • Conduct basic and advanced statistical analyses, sample size, and power calculations for projects – 15%
  • Participate and assist in the writing and preparation of manuscripts and presentations for CII faculty and post-doctoral researchers- 10%
  • Act as the data liaison for Center for Solutions for ME/CFS engagements with NIH program staff and the Data Management Coordinating Center – 5%
  • Perform other related duties as assigned – 5%

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent in education and experience plus 2 years of related experience
  • Master’s degree in epidemiology, biostatistics, public health, or a relevant field of study would substitute for experience

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Prior experience with data management and clinical research
  • Prior use of SPSS would be beneficial, but not necessary
