Research faculty engage in, are responsible for, manage, and/or execute significant areas of research or scholarship. They may serve as principal or co-principal investigators on grants or contracts, manage postdoctoral fellows and their research projects or supervise graduate or undergraduate student research. Research Faculty hold full-time, non-tenure track positions. While they may participate in instructional programs, such as lectures or demonstrations, they are not assigned regular teaching duties.

The ASRC seeks a Biomolecular Nuclear Magnetic Resonance Spectroscopy Core Facility Manager, in the rank of a Research Assistant / Associate / Full Professor, depending on experience. This position will report to the Director of the Structural Biology Initiative.

Duties include but are not limited to:
- Manage the daily operation and maintenance of 3 Bruker Advance III Biomolecular Nuclear Magnetic Resonance (NMR) spectrometers along with associated probes, accessories, and infrastructure.
- Oversee proper upkeep and maintenance of Quantum Technologies helium recovery system in collaboration with two other research staff.
- Implement fully automated setups for advanced NMR spectroscopy, data acquisition, processing, and analysis with application in characterization of biomolecular structure, dynamics, and function.
- Work with users to implement, or where relevant develop, new NMR experiments in different functionality, including high pressure/photochemical applications, NMR-based screening.
- Participate, and where appropriate, lead workshops and teaching classes.
- Work with administrative staff to invoice and bill academic and industry users for experimental time.
- As interested, develop research programs independently or in conjunction with users, writing in-house or external grant applications to support this work.

Qualifications:

Ph.D. in area(s) of expertise or equivalent and a record of several years of successful research experience, clear evidence of ability to perform research independently or collaborate on research projects, and significant scholarship in his/her field.  Also required are the ability to advise and/or oversee the direct work of others and a commitment to service in a university setting.

Preferred Qualifications:

Candidates should hold a Ph.D. degree, ideally complemented by postdoctoral or other post-degree training, with a strong knowledge of biomolecular solution NMR spectroscopy, good practical and technical understanding of NMR spectrometers. Experience with prior facility administration is strongly preferred, but not required. Experience with protein/ligand screening, small molecule characterization, and solid-state NMR are considered a plus. Excellent collaborative and communication skills are expected, given the requirement to work with a broad range of on-site and remote users, students, and support personnel.
