A major research focus should be on the development of conceptual understanding and bioinformatics tools for the analysis of genomics data from horticultural crop plants and their associated microorganisms. The successful candidate will lead the Programme Area of “Genomics and Bioinformatics” at the IGZ. The candidates’ research should address major open questions in genome science and be relevant to horticultural production constraints and global food security, particularly in consideration of the concept of planetary boundaries, and should contribute to the rapidly expanding technologies in plant bioinformatics.

Applicants should be internationally recognized research leaders in their field, with a proven ability to acquire externally funded projects. Experience in general science management, social skills, and team-oriented leadership are also required.

The joint professorship is being filled under the Jülich Model, with a teaching obligation of at least 2 hours per week at the University of Potsdam.
