Role and Responsibilities:

The Senior Manufacturing Technician reports to the Manufacturing Manager in Downstream Manufacturing, and must be flexible to work day, swing, or night shifts, and/or weekends.

Responsibilities for this role include:
  • Comply with safety and environmental rules and regulations applicable to the operations.
  • Submit environmental, safety, and property damage near miss and incident reports and participate in investigations and corrective action identification.
  • Assists in manufacturing product.
  • Has daily interaction with department members to ensure production proceeds as scheduled.
  • Works in conjunction with other manufacturing technicians under the guidance of a Team Lead.
  • Monitors and controls weights, volumes, temperatures, pressure, and pH.
  • Participates in Downstream Manufacturing production processes, including but not limited to:
    • Protein Purification by means of column chromatography, Viral Filtration, UFDF, and Buffer Preparation.
    • Clean in Place (CIP) and Steam in Place (SIP) of fixed tanks/vessels and portable equipment and Clean out of Place (COP) of miscellaneous parts and equipment.
  • Updates SOPs and Master Production Batch Records.
  • Interacts with QA/QC and Supply Chain to ensure that all raw materials and components are available for production usage.
  • Interacts with outside vendors on productions supplies and materials.
  • Consistently adheres to cGMPs.
  • May aid in the training of newer employees in standard operating procedures and processes.
  • Has daily interaction with department members to ensure production proceeds as scheduled.
  • Works to demanding production schedules and strict compliance/quality requirements.
  • Supports continuous improvement and process reliability through involvement in process improvement teams.
  • Assists in analysis of recurrent troubles or breakdowns, and recommends improvements and cost savings ideas to management.

Knowledge, Experience and Skills:
  • HS diploma, a Certificate and minimum 6 years of relevant experience.
  • Prior experience in a cGMP related industry is required, within Biopharmaceutical or Pharmaceutical industry preferred.
  • Demonstrates good verbal, written, and interpersonal communication skills.
  • Working knowledge of Good Manufacturing Practices (GMPs)
  • Works on non-routine to somewhat complex problems, requiring evaluation of multiple factors before taking action.
  • Must be flexible and open to various shifts, weekends, holidays, and longer hours as business needs dictate
  • Must be able to stand continuously for 4 hours at a time
  • Must be comfortable observing aseptic gowning procedures, and able to change work attire as required for the task.
  • Occasionally lift 50 lbs
  • Routinely lift 25 lbs
